The Indiana Convention Center, located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, stands as one of the premier meeting and convention facilities in the United States. With over 566,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space spread across 11 halls, 71 meeting rooms, and three multi-purpose ballrooms, the center is equipped to host events of virtually any size and scope, from intimate corporate gatherings to massive trade shows and international conventions.
Originally opened in 1972, the Indiana Convention Center has undergone five major expansions, with the most recent and largest addition completed in January 2011 at a cost of $275 million. This expansion transformed the facility into a world-class destination and set a new standard for convention infrastructure. One of the center’s most remarkable distinctions is its connectivity: it is linked via skywalks to 12 hotels and over 4,700 hotel rooms, more than any other convention center in the United States, allowing attendees to move seamlessly between accommodations and event spaces without stepping outside.
The center is also connected to Lucas Oil Stadium via an underground pedestrian walkway, providing an additional 183,000 square feet of exhibit space for the largest events. Together, the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium form the ICCLOS complex, managed by the Capital Improvement Board of Managers. The complex is just 15 minutes from Indianapolis International Airport and is surrounded by more than 200 restaurants, a four-story urban shopping mall, and White River State Park, offering attendees an exceptional array of dining, entertainment, and recreational options. The Indiana Convention Center has hosted landmark events including Super Bowl XLVI, NCAA tournaments, Gen Con, and the National FFA Convention.
